The call girl and the beauty queen teamed up to deliver the season's
surprise hit. But now Julie has followed Neha Dhupia home from
work and is busy making inroads into her life.

Bollywood's newest Castoff
Queen, who sent temperatures soaring in a red-hot bikini in Qayamat,
admits Julie has a grip over her. "I never realised that a
character I play on screen could have such an impact on my own life. But to
be honest, I am not surprised. An actress cannot remain untouched by a film
as emotionally surcharged as Julie. For a year now I have lived
and breathed the character of an innocent girl who journeys from Goa to
Mumbai only to end up as a high-class hooker in a world of corruption. I am
therefore finding it hard to let go," she says.
According to Neha, even her religious beliefs have undergone a change
thanks to Julie's Catholic faith. The screen siren today finds
herself making a sign of the cross each time she passes a church and feels
comfortable with a crucifix on her person. "I have become more secular in
my outlook. I believe in the character that I portrayed on screen and
therefore have no qualms about whatever effect Julie is having on
me. I think a lot about her life, the way she talks, the way she behaves
and carries herself, her misfortunes and many, many other things," gushes
Neha.
The former Miss India is not the only one struggling to keep reel and
real life apart. Many others in the film industry say a crossover is bound
to happen when an actor starts believing too intensely in the role he or
she plays. Kareena Kapoor, who won accolades for her performance as a sex
worker in Chameli, certainly agrees.
"After Chameli I found that I was better able to appreciate
the problems these women face everyday. While Chameli as a
character didn't intrude too much into my life, the film made me more
concerned and sensitive towards social issues," she says. (HT Tabloid) |
