Krishna Mehta
One of the foremost names in ethereal
fashion, Krishna Mehta's collection this
spring is a quiet melange of simple lines and easy fabrics.
Exquisite chiffon and georgette accompany linen and natural cotton,
while aqua, turquoise green, yellow, amber and ochre form some of
the most predominant hues. Pastels and abundant wisps of white of
course complete the traditional Krishna Mehta signature. Designs are
further embellished with gentle embroidery, pin tucks and innovative
necklines. Some of the most noticeable features of the KM collection
this season are shorter hemlines and linear silhouettes. Definitely
worth a dekho for those tuned into the subtler aspects of style.
Ritu Kumar
She splashes into the summer with a new
fashion statement, this time her own
trademark, LABEL. Aimed to heighten the impetus of the woman of
today, Ritu Kumar's summer collection launches itself through a
pastiche of universal silhouettes, focussing on the feel of the
garment all the way to it's cut colour and drape. Modern, yet
inherently feminine, this blend of old world charm and the blatant
modern unfettered spirit has everything from free flowing drapes to
traditional black and white evening wear enhanced with Ikta weaves.
The collection is also topped off with contemporary fabrics like
denim, lycra and tencel mixes, while the colour palette sizzles with
blazingly bright hues to keep the summery spirit alive and rocking.
Don't miss this one for the world.
Oobe
The
latest to hit the bandwagon of bubble gum fashion, Oobe has of
course cultivated a quick niche for itself for city brat-packers.
This season sees the brand hit new notes in everything from skirts,
shorts, jeans and capris to a profusion of easy to wear tops each
one garnished with a flavour of Oobe oomph setting them apart from
the crowd. Blues, yellows, pinks and lilacs rule the fashion palette
while blended lycra, twills, easygoing denims and polins govern the
avant garde Oobe fabric flourish. A must see for any teen fashion
fetishist. If you're looking to swing this season, Oobe's your
mantra.
Ravi Bajaj
Linen, organza,
georgette, chiffon and cotton form the essential fabrics to
embody master designer Ravi Bajaj's summer collection this year.
While last year saw a burst of stark black and white in RB's saree
collection, this year sees the gentle nip of pink and blue pastels
adorn the flowing attire to heighten traditionalism yet straying
from the run-of-the-mill. Peach, lavender and yellow hit the fashion
racks while cuts and silhouettes lend themselves to rich layers in
trousers, tunics and skirts. Don't miss the geometric motifs and
embroidery synonymous with RB style. There is also the sensual
fitting dress for those looking to turn on the heat this summer.
