Karl Lagerfeld
says curvier women need to lose weight to fit into his clothes
Fashion
designer Karl Lagerfeld has reportedly said curvier women need to lose
weight to fit into his clothes.
According to the online edition of Vogue,
the designer said that women who are curvier than the average catwalk
mannequin should lose weight to fit into his microscopic skirts, crop
tops and hot pants.
The 63-year-old Hamburg-born designer
unveiled his own new, slim figure at Couture Week in July last year.
Fellow designer Donna Karan has jumped to
Mr Lagerfeld's defence.
She said that although she was surprised
by Lagerfeld's comments, no statement made by a designer directly
after their show should be taken too seriously.
"I think this was maybe a comment made out
of context," she says. "God only knows what I say after my shows.
You're delirious! You shouldn't have to be responsible for the things
you say after you show."
