APRIL 5: Mumbai police grilled six people including models Carol
Gracias and Gauhar Khan, for 16 hours last night for their
involvement in the "wardrobe malfunction" incident at the recently
concluded Lakme Fashion Week.
The Lakme Fashion Week -- attended by top buyers such as Browns, H&M
and Saks Fifth Avenue -- was held between March 28 and April 4 in
Mumbai, India.
There were two incidents of clothes slipping off model's bodies
while they were walking on the ramp in weeklong festivity that saw
the participation of some of the India high profile names associated
with glamour fashion and Bollywood.
Police eventually gave a clean chit to those involved in the
incident, saying there was no indication that the incident was
intentional.
Model Carol Gracias, showing off the top by designer Bennu Sehgal,
quickly pulled up the gold-and-green embroidered bustier and
maintained a stony pout. But not before cameras had recorded the
embarrassing moment.
Former Miss India, Gauhar Khan, faced a similar show-stopping moment
as the zipper of a flowing black skirt split, exposing her bottom.
DCP Sanjay Aparanti who interrogated the models as well others said,
“police thoroughly grilled all those involved but ‘found no sign of
foul play”, in a hurriedly called press conference after concluding
the interrogation.
The issue had rocked the Maharashtra state legislature accusing the
show of "obscenity" in the name of showcasing fashion.
State Home Minister R R Patil had assured the house that the
government would probe the matter, and if the incidents were found
to be intentional, action would be taken against those involved.
