“Shubho
Nava Varsha,” was how she greeted everyone on Poila Baisakh, broad
smile and noodle strap in place, half-Bangali bor by her
side. Little surprise, then, that a Bengali platter mattered most to
Mandira Bedi on Wednesday afternoon. The diet-watcher dug into a
spread of luchi, alu-posto, begun bhaja, aam daal and mishti
at a city restaurant, with husband Raj Kaushal for company. The
leading lady of Indian cricket on the small screen has now slipped
into a lead role on the big screen, with Shaadi Ka Laddoo,
directed by Raj and co-starring Sanjay Suri. The trio stopped over in
Kolkata town for a promotional tour of the “light-hearted family
entertainer”. The spotlight, of course, was firmly on Mandira, on the
eve of her birthday. (Telegraph, IN) |
