Indian Fashion Designer Sabyasachi
headed for Milan Fashion Week

Sabyasachi MukherjeeKOLKATA, AUG 1: After glory and good business on home turf, young Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee is headed overseas - for the coveted Milan Fashion Week.

Mukherjee, among the hottest designers in the country, has been invited to the Milan show slated for September. He is one of only two designers chosen from Asia.

He had sent in his application with samples of his work to the Indo-Italian chamber of commerce to be sent to the organisers of the Milan show.

"On Friday, I heard from them confirming my participation," said Mukherjee, known to his friends as Pepsi. He is also slated to appear at the New York Fashion Week immediately after.

The young designer is worried that he is left with less than two months to prepare his collection that goes on show in Milan Sep 25 at 3 p.m.

"I start working right away as I don't have much time," Mukherjee said. He is looking for an India-inspired Western look.

He is already planning the look for his spring/summer line 2005 that he wants to be minimalist.

Mukherjee said the Milan invitation was an honour because it plays host to some 100 top global labels.

Redheads return to rule the ramp!

A redheadLONDON, JUL 31: Move over Blondes and Brunettes, the modelling world wants red heads only. After centuries of suffering ridicule, becoming the victims of evil orthodox practices and having every cliché in the book attached to the colour of their hair, red heads have now become the flavour of the season, as an increasing number of modelling agencies are sending an SOS asking natural red heads to come forward.

According to the Independent, modelling agencies now say that an increasing number of clients want only red heads, in fact the demand is so high that a high-profile modelling agency lost a lot of business because they did not have models with red hair.

"A lot of women with red hair don't seem to realise how beautiful it is. I think they're so used to being on the wrong end of jokes that they don't think of themselves as model material," the report quoted said Lesley Middlemiss, the company director of a modelling agency, Tyne Tee Models, as saying.

"Red is always a colour that's been seen as a bit anarchic. Now the context seems to be more natural and pre-Raphaelite," Gavin Boardman, a senior official at the Storm modelling agency, added. (ANI)
