Fuchsia Lips
Make-up experts are forgoing the de rigueur deep red for a new favorite: fuchsia:

Forget the usual lip color suspects for fall. Make-up experts are forgoing the de rigueur deep red for a new favorite: fuchsia. It gives a coy, feminine appearance and looks good for a morning and evening ceremony.

If you're thinking pink for your lips, first decide if you want to go soft or strong. For a soft look, try a pale version of pink and apply it with your finger.

To dilute the shade even more, cover the color with a coat of gloss. For a stronger punch of hot pink, first apply foundation to the lips to block out the mouth's natural color then power lips up with a vibrant hue, such as Lakme Brilliance 8 & 9 Lipstick.

Desi WomanSix Vital Health Checks Every Woman Should Know About

Follow the essential guide to the most important tests available - discover why you need them.

We all know how essential smear tests are for our health. But have you ever thought of getting your hormone levels checked? Or having your bones measured for their destiny? Probably not, but these tests could be just as life saving. If you have any of the symptoms we've listed, these tests could protect against both minor illnesses and life threatening diseases.

Essential Check # 1 - Cervical Smear Test
Why you need it: Every year, 1000 women die from cervical cancer. Sadly, most of them have never had a smear test. Cervical smears are the best way to detect cell changes before they develop into cancer.

Essential Check # 2 - The Heathly Ovary Check
Why you need it: One in five women suffer from polycentric ovary syndrome (POCS), a condition in which the ovaries become studded with small cysts. In its most severe form - affecting one in 10 - POCSinterferes with fertility and increases the risk of diabetes and heart diseases. There are range of symptoms connected with the condition – acne, excess body hair and weight gain are all common.

Essential Check # 3 - Bone Scan
Why do you need it: The bone-thinning disease osteoporosis affects more than one in three women. If you're underweight, have irregular periods or smoke, then you're at even greater risk.

Essential Check # 4 - Breast Examination
Why do you need it: Breast cancer is the most common cause of cancer in women, and it's estimated that one in 10 women will get the disease at some time in their life. It's never too early to have a breast check, and it's vital that women feel able to ask for one and learn how to examine themselves.

Essential Check # 5 - Anaemia Test
Why you need it: If you constantly feel drained, off colour and suffer from dizzy spells, you could be one of the 10 percent of women who suffer from anaemia, a disorder affecting red blood cells that is commonly caused by lack of iron in the diet. Women need around 14mg of iron a day (equivalent to two bowls of bran flakes or a cup-sized portion of spinach).

Essential Check # 6 - Thyroid Test
Why you need it: Do you feel anxious? Are you losing weight fast, despite an increased appetite, or are you gaining weight for no apparent reason? Or suffering from insomnia? These symptoms could indicate thyroid problems. The thyroid gland produces thyroxin, a hormone that can affect your metabolism, and problems with it can cause a host of symptoms – from hair loss, heavy periods and depression, to excess sweating, insomnia and palpitations. Women are more at risk than men. If you have any of these symptoms go for a test. (Visage PK)
