| It's
summer and we all want to feel cool and fresh. What better way to do
this than to use one of my favorite herbs -- the mint plant?
Mint has been used medicinally for centuries for ailments such as
nausea, headaches, gastric problems and stuffy sinuses, to freshen
breath and even for its calming and sedative effect.
Take a look at my favorite ways to incorporate mint into your skin
care routine.
Dandruff Mint Rinse
1 cup water
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 handful fresh mint leaves
Place ingredients in a saucepan; bring to a boil. Strain the
mixture into a container; cover and save until ready to use or massage
solution into the scalp, then let dry. Do not rinse the solution from
your hair.
Minty Mask
1 Tbsp. spearmint leaves, ground
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 Tbsp. honey
Place ingredients in a blender; puree 2 minutes. Avoiding your eye
area, smooth the mixture onto your clean face and neck. Leave on 10
minutes then rinse with cool water.
Note: Do not use this if your skin is extremely dry or sensitive.
Sweet Sugar Mint Scrub
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup sweet almond oil
1/4 cup olive oil
Several drops peppermint oil
1 dollop honey
Place ingredients in a bowl; stir to combine. Place mixture in a
jar and use as a body scrub when bathing.
Minty Fresh Foot Rub
1 Tbsp. mint oil
1/4 to 1/2 cup olive, almond or grape seed oil
1/4 cup aloe vera gel
Place ingredients in a bowl; mix well. Cover and refrigerate until
ready to massage into your feet.
