Mumbai, Oct 19 : After years of being one of Pakistan's foremost
designers, Bunto Kazmi has had her first ever fashion show in India.
Kazmi was part of a team of designers who showed their collections in
the city over the weekend.
Kazmi sent down a collection of iridescent strobes, where textures
like Jamevar weaves and Persian embellishments came together to create
a unique style.
"We have been around for more than 50 years but never believed in
doing fashion shows or setting up websites.
Our clothes sell on our
unique design and quality," Kazmi to IANS at the Femina Bridal Show.
Among the others participating in the show were Maria B, Rouge, which
has offices in London and Pakistan, and clients like Victoria Beckham,
Nilofer Shahid, Ather Ali Hafeez and Sana and Safinaz.
Shahid, who has dressed former Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto,
used motifs from Islamic calligraphy and Mughal architecture for her
collection based on the life of legendary Lebanese poet Khalil Gibran. (IANS)
