‘Gayab’ good enough for children

Tusshar Kapoor in 'Gayab'

Tusshar Kapoor in 'Gayab'

Coming from the camp of versatile Ram Gopal Verma,“Gayab” lacks his first class touch.

Supposed to be a comedy thriller it seems to be its evaporated version Vishnu Prasad (Tusshar Kapoor) is a simple middle class guy who is devoid of good looks or any quality to distinguish himself.

Often scolded by his unsentimental mother, laughed at by his friends and ignored by the girl (Antara Sen) with whom he is furiously in love, he wishes to disappear and lo ! he becomes invisible.

Free from the physical form,he begins to give a practical shape to his dreams. So he slaps the lover of his (Vishnu’s) sweetheart, pours coffee on his shirt and even removes the dhoti of a politician. People howl at the sight of a driver-less motor cycle speeding away.

A comedy good enough for children. Tusshar is well -suited for the character. Antara Sen tries to sizzle in an item number. But she is no hawa-hawai like Sri Devi. She boils down to give an average performance. It is Rasika Joshi who proves her craft as Vishnu’s tongue-lashing mother.

A still from GayabUnlike “Mr India”, “Gayab” fails to rise above childish tricks.

If Vishnu Prasad’s antics do not please you, wait for the second half to spot some unintentional humour, stemming from court scenes. In general it is a good time killer.
