31 - International lingerie brand Victoria's Secret model Jaslene
Gonzalez has slammed reports that she was suffering from eating
disorders.
Recent photographs of the Latino model partying in Miami, where she
is shooting a fashion segment for CoverGirl TV, created a new set of
rumors that the slender America's Next Top Model beauty
isn't just dealing with a super-fast metabolism. Shots of her even
skinnier frame started the gossip columns postulating that she
actually has an eating disorder. But the Latino model says she is
not anorexic and has no problems with her skinny frame,
contactmusic.com reported.
She writes: "Anorexia is a sickness that I do NOT tolerate in my
life. Just because I'm a model doesn't mean that I am going to
starve myself. I am happy with who and what I am. I don't have low
self-esteem to go and starve myself to think that I look good.
"I will say that there are many models who have gone through that
hardship and I really feel sorry for them. I love myself for who I
am. There is nothing in this world that can change that."
Other celebs who have been hit with eating disorder rumors later
went on to make sure they participated in lots of eating-related
photo opportunities. Thus far, it would appear this isn't a tactic
Jaslene wants to use to counter the gossip, preferring to respond to
the rumblings head on. |

31 - Question: Why do celebrities carry such huge purses? How much
stuff could they possibly need so bad they have to lug it around
everywhere?
Answer: Stars carry giant handbags because everybody is carrying giant
handbags. Haven't you heard? Don't you read W magazine like a good
little consumer? The '80s are back, or something. I don't know
exactly. It's not my job to know—it's just my job to buy what W says.
The point is, large handbags are all the rage. A 20-inch-long,
10-inch-deep number is considered "medium."
Those are the dimensions of the It bag known as the Faithful, first
sported by Cameron Diaz, before being adopted in quick succession by
Cate Blanchett, Paris Hilton, Sarah Michelle Gellar and a very preggo
Naomi Watts.
The designer of this It bag is Allison Burns, who used to do Paris'
makeup before she turned to fashion. According to Burns, "There is no
rhyme or reason to fashion." Large handbags are simply a product of a
return to '80s hugeness and, to a lesser extent, '70s-style
hippie-hobo apparel.
However, the giant satchels do serve one important function.
Stars carry a lot of stuff, stuff that probably wouldn't make a ton of
sense to people who work 8- to 10-hour days. Stars rarely work such
gentle hours. When they're on, they're on, putting in, like, 14 to 18
hours a pop, either on a set or on a plane or in an interview or
posing for that benevolent dictator of fashion, W.
And jet-setters, by nature, carry more of their essentials with them,
on their person.
"Most of these girls carry three phones," Burns tells this B!tch. "A
phone, a BlackBerry or maybe an iPod. Then there's their makeup bag.
And you always want to have a pashmina or something to throw on, just
in case.
"And a couple pairs of sunglasses, just in case you feel like making a
change...plus, body lotion. It's just a ton of stuff you would
normally put on before you leave the house."
One other reason why celebs carry those purses: Most of them got them
for free, without even asking, so why not? |
