MUMBAI,
JAN 21: Fashion diva Ritu Beri has started a new jewellery line with
the D'damas gems brand and would be making necklaces, pendants,
earrings and finger rings which would be sold from her stores and from
D'damas outlets across the country.
The line would be called Amour and the initials of Beri would be
engraved on every piece.
"India's love affair with gold is enduring, spanning centuries and
millennia. This is why I choose to enter the jewellery design arena
with an ethno-contemporary gold collection," Beri told IANS.
"This collection symbolizes the unique qualities of the precious
metal. The eternal, but malleable nature of gold reflects the power
and the beauty of the various possibilities in jewellery."
The line was launched with a fashion show starring film star Akshay
Kumar, who walked the runway dressed in a Ritu Beri outfit Wednesday
night. Half his face was given a metallic coloring and he wore torn
jeans and T-shirt.
Kumar walked the ramp with white pigeons in his hand and then set them
free. "I'm thrilled to walk the ramp as you normally don't get the
chance to do such things anymore. Ritu is a dear friend and she is
also designing my clothes now, so when she told me that she is
showcasing her new line I was ready to be her model for the show,"
said Kumar.
Added Beri: "For Akshay I have given a very sailor look as he comes
from a navy background. You will see an interesting mix of dressing I
have designed for Akshay for his forthcoming films." |
