SEP 16 - Wife Saira
Bano hopes to
bring back husband Dilip Kumar to acting under her production banner.
"Yes I hope to bring back Dilip sahib once I prove my capability as a
producer. There were one or two scripts that we had revived including
Satya Master. If he agrees, I would like to produce that film," Saira
Bano told reporters in a rare press conference in Mumbai last night,
reported PTI.
"Why not, it would be a good thing," Dilip Kumar said when informed of
his wife's plans.
The thespian's last film was 'Qila' in 1998.
Saira Bano also came out strongly against the recent trend of remakes
of old films, saying she had even tried to convince filmmaker Sanjay
Leela Bhansali not to remake `Devdas'.
"I am totally against remakes of old films. How can you hope to
replace the original actor, his performance in a remake? I have seen
the new 'Devdas' and although it has great production value and
grandeur, it does not have the soul that the original had," the
yesteryear actress said.
Speaking about her directorial ambitions, she said "I would love to
direct, ideally a light, romantic ambition, but directing and even
acting is a full time job. You have to be there all times. My
priorities have changed. I prefer to look after my home and family. In
production, I can take my own time."
The duo have also followed the trend of Bollywood stars foraying into
the burgeoning Bhojpuri film industry, by coming out with their maiden
Bhojpuri production, which is set to hit theatres next month.
"When people ask me why Bhojpuri, I ask them why not. It is a
beautiful language, has a very earthy feel to it and I have been very
influenced by it ever since I saw 'Ganga Jamuna'. I would like to
produce even more Bhojpuri films," she added.
Kumar also seconded his wife's opinion and said, "Bhojpuri films are
coming up a lot and many of the stars are making a lot of money."
Their debut production venture Ab To Ban Ja Sajanva Hamaar, featuring
Bhojpuri stars Nagma and Ravi Kishen, will be released on October 27. |

16 - Move over desi beefcakes. They are passé
because now spice girls of Bollywood go weak-kneed over
phirang men.And we thought it's just Bikini Babe
Celina Jaitely and Amrita Arora who have their heartthrobs -
Bill Cusack and Usman Afzal respectively - from foreign
destinations! There are many more, on the same track, who
find Hollywood guys much sexier, hotter and desirable than
our desi actors.
Many of us perhaps are not even aware that Urmila
Matondkar can die for Mel Gibson. This is what she has to
say: "I have a long list of guys that I find sexy and they
are all from Hollywood! I confess that I have been in love
with Mel Gibson from a long, long time because I find him
the hottest and sexiest of them all."
Similar is the case with Khallas girl Isha
Koppikar. Her fondness for Russell Crow has reached such
heights that she could get palpitation if the man winks at
her even once. She says, "I simply love Russell Crow. He is
just amazing as an actor, a person, a man and his
personality is admirable. Perhaps no one can match the
impression he has on me. I don't find our Indian hunks as
impressive as Russell, whom I really love."
Sex kitten Koena Mitra is no less. The actress dreams of
visiting the world with heartthrob Tom Cruise. "Yes, Tom
Cruse is really someone I will enjoy to spend rest of my
life with. If he is with me all other things in the world
cease to exit for me. I fantasize being marooned on an
island with Cruise. His body, looks and style are extremely
fascinating," confesses Koena. |
