Ireland seeking
Bollywood
JAN
16 - Ireland wants Bollywood movie moguls to film in the
country. The Irish prime minister Bertie Ahern is leading a
delegation to India on a six-day visit. Representatives of
the film and television industries on both sides of the
border will accompany the Irish leader. Their main focus
will be building up contacts in Bollywood. Naoise Barry of
the Irish Film Board said "there were only three Indian
films involving Irish locations when the delegation visited
the country 18 months ago. Since then parts of 11 Indian
feature films have been shot here. The nature of the
production in Ireland so far has been a week to 10-day
shoots filming song and dance sequences that are elements of
the larger picture being made in India. We have had no full
feature film made here." He said that "by Indian standards,
Ireland is exotic. Their preference is for prime scenic
areas and they are also very fond of our big country houses.
They have also used Irish dance in the Indian dance
sequences and mixed them together." |

'Rang De Basanti'
release postponed
JAN
14 - Reports have it that the release of Rang De
Basanti has been postponed..until January 26.
Lagaan and The Rising fame Aamir Khan
’s recent movie had recently run into trouble first over the
depiction of MIG fighter aircrafts in ‘poor light’. In the
film, actor Madhavan plays a pilot who dies in a MIG crash.
After that hitch was cleared with a clean chit from the
Defense Ministry, the movie ran into a new trouble with the
Animal Welfare Board, which withdrew the mandatory
permission for it’s screening, on the grounds the film was
shot prior to obtaining permission to use animals in the
movie. The film has scenes that show Aamir Khan taking part
in a horse race. Now, reports say that the movie has
consequently been postponed by one week. It was slated to
hit the theatres on January 20. But now, it will release on
January 26, the Indian Republic Day. |
