Imran Khan rejects 'love-child'

Sita White with daughter TyrianLahore, May 17: Former Pakistan captain Imran Khan has denied London tabloid reports which claimed that he had agreed to take custody of his 'love-child' Tyrian.

Maintaining his stance that Tyrian was not his illegitimate daughter, Imran said neither he nor his wife Jemima had taken any decision to take custody of the girl.

Earlier, London media claimed Imran flew to Los Angeles after the sudden death of his "old love" Sita White, to take custody of his daughter.

Imran never confirmed Sita's oft-repeated assertion that he was the father of the girl and a Daily Times report on Monday quoted him as saying that Tyrian had been made to believe that he was her father.

Imran said Sita and Jemima knew each other well because Sita's father, the late Lord White and Jemima's father, the late Sir James Goldsmith, were very close friends.

Imran also refuted reports that had flown to California after Sita died on Thursday during a Yoga class at Beverly Hills and agreed to adopt Tyrian.

Imran said this was absolutely wrong as he had come to Washington straight from Pakistan.

Meanwhile, talking about Tyrian, he said it was up to her grandmother and her aunt, Sita's sister, to decide what to do.

Things would be clearer in a few days, said Imran.

On Sunday, London-based The Mirror quoted a Jemima friend saying, "Jemima has got to know Tyrian. They have met up and get on.

"Tyrian's future needs to be discussed with Sita's family, but Jemima and Imran are happy for her to live with them if that's what everyone believes is the best for her."

Tyrian was likely to live with Imran and Jemima in London, it said.

Despite Imran's repeated denial, a US judge had ruled in 1997 that he was the father of Tyrian. (UNI)

Sita was killed by fall

Sita WhiteMAY 17: A coroner has revealed that British heiress Sita White, 43, may have lost her life after hitting her head when she suddenly collapsed at a yoga class.

According to The Sun, Sita, who is the alleged mother of Pakistani cricket star and politician Imran Khan's daughter- Tyrian, was thought to have had a heart attack.

However, a coroner's spokesman in Santa Monica, US, said, "She hit her head on the floor."

Now, Imran and his British wife Jemima are expected to bring up the twelve-year-old Tyrian. (ANI)

Al Gore & Tipper donate to Imran's hospital

Al GoreWashington, May 17: Former US vice president Al Gore and his wife Tipper Gore have made a donation, as they did the year before, to the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital set up by Imran Khan in memory of his mother.

Imran Khan, who flew into Washington for a night to attend a fundraiser for the hospital, received a cheque for $ 1,000 from the former vice president and his wife. They made an identical donation last year.

The Gores also sent a hand-written message to the former cricket star and current member of the National Assembly that said, “We are proud to be a part of your efforts to expand healthcare. We are sorry to miss the event on May 15th but we won’t be in town. You have our very best wishes for success.”

The fund-raising dinner held at a Washington hotel Saturday night generated $150,000. The event at $150 a plate was organised by Mrs Fauzia Kasuri, wife of Danial Kasuri, executive director of the Beaconhouse School system in Pakistan.

Many of the attendees made donations of between $10,000 and $20,000. The Imran Khan Cancer Appeal is a recognized, tax-exempt charity in the United States.

Imran Khan flew to New York Sunday morning on his way to Pakistan after a night’s stay in London. (Daily Times)
