LONDON, FEB 2:
It was her 30th birthday bash, but the husband was missing. Surrounded by
supermodels, superstars and society figures Jemima Khan celebrated her
landmark birthday, while her husband Imran Khan was 4,000 miles away, in
Pakistan.
She looked happy when she arrived at the London nightclub
Annabel's, dressed in, what can be termed as perhaps her most revealing dress
since she converted to Islam. The shining bronze dress was above the knee
with a plunging neckline.
Her mother, after whom the club is named, also joined in the party. The
Saturday bash included guests like Hugh Grant who arrived with Princess
Rosario of Bulgaria, supermodel Elle Macpherson and Laura Baily. Jemima's
brother Ben Goldsmith came with his pregnant wife, banking heiress Kate
Rothschild.
Camilla Parker Bowle's son Tom and X-Files actress Gillian Anderson were
also there.
But it was not the star-studded party that was the cause of media
interest. It was the absence of Imran Khan that raised eyebrows. Gossip about
the state of their nine-year marriage has always been of great media
interest. But Jemima and Imran, 51, are not on the verge of divorce, it has
been clarified once again. Family members explained to guests that Imran was
absent because he was unavoidably detained in Pakistan. A guest was told that
Imran wanted to be there for the party but there was an "important political
vote or something and he couldn't make it in time."
It was only a month or two ago that placed an advertisement in Pakistani
newspapers denying her marriage was in trouble. She explained that she was
studying in SOAS and would move back to Pakistan after completing her
studies, and that it was not true that the two were having difficulties in
their marriage.
The celebrations continued on Sunday at the Khan's £1.5 million house in
Fulham. Jemima, reportedly appeared 'chirpy' but not in a mood to discuss her
marriage. She told The Daily Mail: "I don't want to talk about it."
