Muskan Khan to storm Bollywood

Muskan KhanJAN 02 - It started with Zeba Bakhtiar, Somi Ali and Meera, now another Pakistani actress, Muskan Khan, is set to enter into Bollywood.

Muskan is starring in Saanoo Movies' 'Koi Nahin Tere Siva'. And like Meera, she also wants to be the Queen of Bollywood.

"I want to be a superstar in Bollywood. I want to stay in the heartbeats and eyes of people," Muskan said.

Talking about her role in 'Koi Nahin Tere Siva', she said: "I am playing a very simple and saree clad girl in the movie."

The film also introduces Pakistani actor Muskan Khan and Indian actor Navin Beri. Others starring in the film are Govind Namdeo, Mukesh Tiwari, Mushtaq Khan, Nishigandha Wad, Shabnam Kapoor, Madhvendra, Sheetal, Dr. Charanpal Singh and Ali Khan.

"I am playing Deva in the film who belongs to a poor family and falls for a rich girl. The movie unfolds the sequences when he goes through difficult times and despite various troubles, he wants to see her happy all the time," Indian actor Navin said.

"I am being told that she (Muskan) has worked in 20-30 movies in Pakistan and is a good artist. So, I hope that she does well (in Bollywood) and even provide me some helpful acting tips," he added.


 

 

Karafilm Festival comes to Capital

KaraFilms AwardJAN 01 - Karafilm Society and Dawn Group of Newspapers are collaborating to organize a select screening of the 5th Karafilm festival on January 7 and 8 at the NIC Auditorium in Islamabad.

The fifth Karafilm Festival was held in Karachi from December 1 to 11, 2005 with 150 features, documentaries and shorts from over 30 countries including India, Iran, Italy, UK, US, France, Germany, etc. Dawn was the official print media sponsor for the event.

The Karafilm Festival is on tour to Islamabad and will screen some fo the award winning films like Iqbal, Mein Ne Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara, Pride and Prejudice, Gilaneh and Before I Go.

At the festival, the best film award went to 'Gilaneh', an Iranian film and the lead actress, Fatemeh Motamed Arya, won the best actress award.

Among others to win awards were Anupam Kher (best actor), Nagesh Kukunoor (best director for 'Iqbal'), Shweta Prasad (best female actress in a supporting role) and Sudhir Mishra, Ruchi Narain and Shivkumar Subramaniam (best original screenplay) for 'Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi'.
