Film actor Muhammad Ali passes away
MAR 19 - Shahenshah-e-Jazbaat i.e. The King of Emotions, Muhammad Ali, who was a prominent film actor of Lollywood industry died of cardiac arrest at his residence in Lahore on Sunday.

"Ali died around 1:30 p.m. and the entire family is grieved on his death and we are unable to say much", one of the deceased family members told the media.

Muhammad Ali began his professional career from Radio Pakistan Hyderabad and his debut film was “Charagh Jalta Raha” (1962 ) in which he acted as a villain. It was also the first film for Zeba, Deeba, Kamal Irani, and the director Fazli. Later in life, Ali married Zeba and the couple became synonymous as "Dilip Kumar and Saira Bano" of Pakistan's film industry.

“Shararat” (1964) was another popular film by him. Muhammad Ali performed an unforgettable role in “Aag Ka Darya.”

He acted in over 300 movies including some Punjabi films and worked with Zeba, Shamim Ara and other prominent actors of the time. He was a versatile actor and played negative as well as character actor roles successfully.

He was known in the film circle for his command as a passionate actor and his ease in dramatic situations as well. He is the winner of 7 Nigar Awards for Best Actor, one for Best Supporting Actor, and one special award for the film Dooriyaan.

Ali has served as the Cultural Advisor to Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif's government. Apart from that he has been associated with the Construction business for many years.

According to a newspaper report, he owed Rs. 17.00 to Radio Pakistan Karachi's cafeteria in his initial days. Recently he has urged the cafeteria's cashier to retain his name in their records with the same amount, and that he is willing to pay as much money as is demanded to keep up the old records, since it reminds him of those bad times.

One of his famous dialogues in movies was, "Maa main nay B.A. pass kar liyaa hai maa" (Mom, I passed my BA exams, mom).

He married Zeba, also a prominent film heroin of her time. Ali was a cardiac patient and underwent two surgeries. He has left his wife Zeba and thousands bereaved fans behind.

Prominent film personalities Nadeem, Mustafa Qureshi, Shan, Reema, Sana, Hassan Askari, Altaf Hussain, Sangeeta, Shamim Ara and others have expressed their sympathies and condoled the death of Muhammad Ali.
