March 26: Popular Pakistani pop music band 'Jal' of 'Woh
Lamhe, Woh Yadein..' fame feels that film and music too could
act in building healthy relations between the two neighbors
India and Pakistan.
The band shot to fame with “Woh Lamhe” song, which is picturized
in Bollywood movie `Zaher'.

These young band members feel that though political boundaries
have divided the two nations, the people of the two countries
remain united when it comes to films and music.
"Till now we have performed in 15 to 16 cities of India and
response of the crowd is enormous," Gohar Mumtaz, Jal's
founder
member said after performance in Panaji Goa. The band currently
touring India was in Goa to do a concert organized by an Indian
NGO to raise funds for rehabilitating vulnerable women and
children.
"Similarly more than 80 per cent of people in Pakistan want
Indian movies to be screened in Pakistani theatres," Gohar
added.
"Music is one thing which will help both the countries come
together. Both countries exchanging music will come as a great
help," said Farhan Butt, lead vocals in the band who sang “Woh
Lamhe” that has taken India by storm.

The band arrived in January and is booked for concerts for a
whole two months, covering 11 cities and 21 shows — a fact
testifying to its immense popularity in India.
Talking about their forthcoming work, Gohar said, "We have
composed nine to ten songs for our new album and expect to
release it by September-October this year."
“The original tracks in the albums would bring in musical
revolution in India and Pakistan”, said Gohar.
When asked whether this album too would contribute to Bollywood,
Gohar quipped, "we will compose the songs, and if a Bollywood
film likes to pick it up, it is their look out."
Apart from Jaal, Junoon, Strings, Euphoria and Fuzon are the other Pakistani pop
music groups that have captured the imagination of the Indians. |
