Bollywood Actors to Stage 'Quake Show' in Pakistan

NEW JERSEY, DEC 15: Bollywood actors want to organize a mega show, in collaboration with the Pakistani film and TV industries, in Karachi to generate funds for the quake-affected people, said visiting Indian movie star Shatrughan Sinha, also known as Shotgun Sinha.

“Indian film stars intend to come to Pakistan to participate in a show to collect funds for the affected people of the Oct 8 earthquake,” said Indian film star and politician, Shatrughan Sinha, during a gathering hosted in his honor by the Pakistan Film and TV Journalists Associations in Karachi on Thursday.

Consummate actor that he is, film star-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha, is a Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajya Sabha member also.

BJP used his talents as a star campaigner to win over voters and their votes. But those who have voted for other parties tell that he is the right guy in the wrong party.

BJP awarded Sinha the health ministership in their 2002 cabinet, while Vinod Khanna, another actor-turned-politician got the position of minister of state for tourism and culture.

According to Sinha, " The actor in me borrows from the politician and the politician in me borrows from the actor. Acting is my profession while politics is my obsession."

Sinha's nickname refers to the macho roles he played in action thrillers before entering the political arena.

Three well-known Bollywood actresses have also sat in Parliament - Shabana Azmi, Vyjayantimala Bali and Jayapradha. Azmi is still a sitting member of the Upper House.

Indo-Pak showbiz personalities have started interacting a lot ever since the two countries this year decided to resolve their differences including Kashmir issue peacefully.

Last week, the MTV Immies 2005 Award show held in Mumbai, drew stars from Pakistan also - Ali Zafar, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Euphoria, Jal and Strings, who enthralled the audience with their scintillating performances in collaboration with the Indian music stars.

Singer Rahat Fatah Ali Khan performs during MTV Immies Award in Mumbai, India. Several Pakistani singers also participated in the show. The proceeds of the show will go to earthquake relief fund.
