25: With a successful career in Lollywood, two flops in Bollywood and
unfulfilled dreams of working with biggies like Amitabh Bachchan and
Subhash Ghai, Meera says "No bold roles and skin show anymore. I know
I've made mistakes in the past by accepting films like Kasak
and Nazar, but I'm going to be careful from now."
The actress now wants to act in a classic like Akbar Khan' s Taj
Mahal — The Eternal Love Story, Meera told Hindustan Times in an
interview.
"That's the kind of film I look forward to doing," she says, adding that
she rejected seven to eight bold roles in the last few months. "I don't
want to be typecast as someone who just looks sexy on screen. I would
like to experiment," says the actress.
Meera has bought a house in Mumbai. Surprisingly, the actress still
travels by taxi as she does not own a car.
Meera actually approached Subhash Ghai but will have to wait till the
showman of the industry finds the ‘appropriate' role for her, says HT
report.
Now
settled in Mumbai, Meera still remembers the reaction of people in
Pakistan after seeing her steamy scenes with Ashmit Patel in Nazar.
"The government of Pakistan has helped me a lot in dealing with the
issue and I am thankful for that, " Meera said in her interview.
Meera also insists that she is not in her late twenties. "I started
working in Pakistan at the age of 14, which is why people think I'm
old," says the actress, almost ready with her birth certificate as proof
of age! The 23 year-old (that is what she claims to be) is waiting for
the right offer to fall into her lap. "The one," she adds, "that will
give me the chance to prove myself in the industry." Now that is being a
tad too hopeful, we must say.
